With visits to the Dead Sea, Red Sea, Wadi Rum and Sites Along the King’s Highway

Program and Itinerary

August 28 – Day 1

Arrive Queen Alia Airport, Amman where you will be met and taken to the downtown Farah Hotel. If you arrive early you can see the Roman Amphitheatre, visit the Citadel and go shopping in the traditional Souqs (market places) near the hotel.

August 29 – Day 2


Travel down the Dead Sea Highway to Aqaba. On the way:

  • Visit Mt. Nebo: where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land. Sweeping views of Dead Sea, ancient lands of Gilead, Judah, Jericho and the Negev (the Promised Land).
  • Swim in Dead Sea. At 408m. below sea level the Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. The water is six times saltier than the ocean so your body floats half out of the water when you swim.
  • Hike up Siq Trail, Mujib Gorge. A 2km splash up into the gorge ending at a dramatic waterfall. Mujib Nature Reserve is home to rare animals and plants and one of Jordan’s main ecotourism projects
  • Visit Lot’s Cave. After fleeing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah Lot and his daughters lived in this cave for many years. Archaeologists agree that Sodom and Gomorrah were located near the southern edge of the Dead Sea.
  • Climb gradually to sea level through shifting sand dunes to Aqaba and the Red Sea. Check in to Dune Beach Village, located right on the best diving beaches in Jordan.

August 30 – Day 3

  • Board glass bottom boats and spend morning diving, snorkeling and swimming in the Red Sea (those who don’t wish to swim can enjoy the underwater view through the glassbottom boat).
  • The Red Sea is considered one of the top places for snorkeling and diving with sunken wrecks, spectacular coral formations and colorful tropical fish.
  • 1 hour transit to Wadi Rum after lunch.
  • Wadi Rum, with its Red sand dunes, winding valleys and ancient mountains, offers the most spectacular desert scenery you will ever experience.
  • Ride camels to our desert camp in Wadi Rum.
  • Meditate under the stars and camp in Bedouin tents.

August 31 - Day 4

  • Morning: Explore Wadi Rum by 4WD. Meditate and picnic in cool of mountain cave
  • Transit to Petra (about 1.5 hours away) after lunch
  • Stay at Petra Youth Hostel on the summit of the highest mountain overlooking Petra – a cool, quiet, panoramic place for meditation

September 1 – Day 5

  • Explore Petra, ancient capital of the Nabattean Empire. Lost and forgotten until rediscovered by a Swiss explorer in 1812, the city is carved directly into towering canyon walls resulting in a masterpiece of nature and architecture that have won it a nomination for the Seven Wonders of the World.
  • Evening: Conference opening and Spiritual Ecology Concert and slide show by Dada Nabhaniilananda

September 2 – Day 6

  • Conference Day 1
  • Morning: Dawn Meditation, Yoga class, collective meditation, and class on Spiritual philosophy and practice from Dada/Didi
  • Afternoon: Spiritual Class and afternoon outing followed by sunset meditation outdoors.
  • Evening: Cultural evening with performances by participants and local artists

September 3 – Day 7

  • Conference Day 2
  • Morning: Dawn Meditation, Yoga class, collective meditation and Akhanda Kiirtan (3 hours chanting)
  • Afternoon: Classes by Dada/Didi and Conference closing
  • Evening: Petra by night, candlelight tour

September 4 – Day 8

Transit to Amman via the King’s Highway stopping at:

  • Dana: 15th century stone village clinging to a precipice overlooking the valley and offering exceptional views.
  • Karak Castle: Storybook Crusader castle with moats, dungeons and keeps.
  • Sunset meditation at Dead Sea Panorama Lookout
  • Mt. Nebo: where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land. Sweeping views of ancient lands of Gilead, Judah, Jericho and the Negev, the Promised Land.
  • Sunset Meditation at Dead Sea Panorama Lookout
  • Overnight in Farah Hotel, Amman (last minute shopping in nearby souks)

September 5 – Day 9

  • Departure. Hotel bus to airport.
  • If you don’t have an early flight you can still visit the nearby Roman Theatre and Citadel, or the blue King Abdullah Mosque if you missed them when you arrived.
